The Clothworkers’ Foundation

Art directing a new web interface…

The Clothworkers’ Foundation is the primary vehicle of charitable giving for City livery company The Clothworkers’ Company. I know its work and its brand well from my two-year programme of design work for the The Clothworkers’ Company so I was brought in to art direct the website with a visual language that was consistent with the look and feel of its annual reports.

In a collaborative process involving The Company, The Foundation and web practice Woven Agency, we established what the website needed to do and worked to produce a site that made it easy for grant applicants to find the information they need and before applying, test their eligibility.

Making the site brand consistent was the easy bit. The brief set out the additional challenges of a visually focused design with bespoke iconography which at the same time met accessibility standards, involved minimal navigation and enabled users to get where they wanted to be in as few clicks as possible.

Everyone contributed insight and expertise – and it was a cheering exercise in ‘can do’.
