Stuff

In celebration of equipment and materials…

It was messing about with a camera and 25 sketchbooks that sparked off an idea about stuff.

The modern myth is that designers stare at computer screens all day. But what we do involves making as well – and over decades, we squirrel away kit, some of it for jobs that no longer exist. To those who use it, it is beautiful and as hard to throw out as it is for a musician to say goodbye to an instrument – so the loveliest and most-used design tools have survived our studio move. And the wonderful thing is, in a profession where the learning never stops, new skills mean new equipment and materials…

The book is a short digital print run, bound using copper wire stitching. On collecting the run herself from printer Gavin Martin Colournet, Lydia was greeted by the finisher who had just completed the job. A nice way to round-off the project.
