Show and tell

Thinking. It’s where design comes from. It’s where the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ start. It’s how you tackle a lifetime of increasingly complex practice. So once again it’s been uplifting to visit UCA Epsom’s graphic design show Interesting Times at the Aubin Gallery in Redchurch Street. More an exhibition opening than a degree show, the responses to the theme and artists’ books in place of portfolios show not just the variety of graphic personalities – the private view was full of tutors and practitioners at all stages of their careers who were still thinking. It’s a privilege, we’d say, to be in a profession where we find ourselves in unexpected places, meeting remarkable people and learning new things.
