Clever communicators

The value of a good idea…

Public sector and charity communications have more in common than you’d think: teams have to be able to use resources well, whether it’s making an impact in a small amount of time, making a budget go a long way or making an effective campaign with a small in-house staff team.

So in a series of workshops for the Cabinet Office led by Caroline Black & Associates, guest speakers presented an array of third sector case studies to show how a good idea, simply-delivered could make all the difference.

In workshops at DFID and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, I showed charity, social enterprise and public sector projects where ideas, insight and well-planned implementation had added value.

It’s an approach close to my heart: I’m a big fan of good ideas and intelligent use of resources, based on a thorough understanding of the job that design needs to do.
